Members of the Research Innovation Unit attended the 4th Progress Meeting of VARCITIES hosted by the University of Malta between the 6th and 7th of September 2022 at the Valletta Campus. The team had the opportunity to meet in person this great consortium of partners for the first time. The Malta implementation focuses on the locality of Gzira which takes the role of a city lab.

Prof Alex Torpiano – Dean of the Faculty for the Built Environment, University of Malta gave keynote speech.

“The vision of VARCITIES is to implement real, visionary ideas and add value by establishing sustainable models for increasing the health and well-being of citizens: children, young people, middle aged, and the elderly, who are exposed to diverse climatic conditions and challenges in and around Europe..”

Neil Baldacchino, Managing Director of Darttek Ltd being one of the private partners in the consortium presented the concept of virtual reality/augmented reality gamification with a realistic digital recreation of Triq D’Argens, Gzira for scientific research.
