Members of the Research Innovation Unit on behalf of the Gzira Local Council attended the first in-person consortium and progress meeting of JUSTNature after 8 months of online interactions due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The in-person meeting was held in Munich between the 2nd and the 4th of May 2022 which was hosted by the Technical University of Munich.
Throughout this meeting, the Research Innovation Unit presented the ongoing efforts of the last 8 months since the start of the project, notably the heat mapping of the locality of Gzira which was conducted entirely in-house.

The JUSTNature consortium is mainly composed of a City and its Research Institute and business partners working together to achieve the scope of the JUSTNature project being to shape our cities and make them more sustainable and liveable for the community:

The overall objective of JUSTNature is the activation of nature-based solutions (NbS) by ensuring a just transition to low-carbon cities. It clearly states the right to ecological space for all, to have clean air and indoor/outdoor thermal comfort for human health and well-being, as well as thriving biodiversity and ecosystems.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No. 101003757
